Conditions of Equipment

The baron von Dieskau complains about the bad quality of these weapons provided to the troops. Here what he writes in a letter of April 29, 1755 addressed to the count d' Argenson: "rifles whose that I had the honor to return to you account there a few times are find more and more mauvais.Cet disadvantage is more embarrassing and I see remedy there only that of us sending others of autumn of them next, and if it were possible, that they are rifles in the new way, as well as rods, waited until those break like glass."

Concerning rifles it is not a question there of a success, the weapons which theirs are distributed are model 1746 and obviously badly maintained and badly preserved in the arsenals, they are of bad quality and a dubious reliability.

In its memories Maures de Malastic officer of the regiment of BTarn the list of the equipment of countryside distributed to the troops being used for Canada gives us.  From the 13 to July 15, 1755 the regiment of BTarn which with joined Montreal receives in parcelling: a cap of Cadiz, a wool blanket, two cotton shirts, slings, mitasses, wire, needles, a pair of shoes tanned per month and a book of tobacco, a marmitte with each officers, a tent for four, two by battalions for the servants and four tents and marmittes with each company.
